A volcanic territory with a mild climate that has allowed, over the years, the development of hazelnut groves among the most important in Italy and a trial of almonds.
HAZELNUT
Biosic is an active member of 2 producer organizations in Tuscia that have more than 1500 producers and about 5000 hectares of hazelnuts. The Roman tonda gentile is the variety that represents about 90% of local production, particularly appreciated by the confectionery market.
ALMOND
BIOSIC together with its partners since 2003 cultivates, processes and distributes almonds and derivatives for industry. Over the years it has actively contributed to the development of the almond sector in three regions of Italy: Sicily, Puglia and Lazio.
In 2016, in collaboration with the University of Tuscia, Biosic promoted an almond cultivation project in the province of Viterbo on an area of 400 ha.
In Sicily, in the area of Syracuse, in a factory of 10,000 square meters, has a state-of-the-art structure for shelling, peeling and calibrating almonds.
